Marlowe wasn’t due until the end of July, but due to her momma having some health complications, it was necessary for her to be born early and quickly. Mom went to her doctor for a regular check-up in the morning, and by the evening was scheduled for a cesarean. Throughout the ordeal, her father was a beautiful mess. So excited to meet her, but so worried about his partner.
On the night of June 30th, while her older sister was at home celebrating HER birthday with the rest of the family (yes these sisters share a birthday! How cool is that?!) Vanessa and Tyler welcomed Marlowe Addison Avery via c-section.
While Vanessa was being monitored in recovery, her father was the one who would give her the skin-to-skin this little preemie needed. The sweet and tender first moments of this father and daughter will remain in my mind for a long time. The nurse performed her newborn exam on dad’s chest. I looked at Tyler while he was admiring his baby and said, “things can never go back to the way they were before she got here, eh?” He couldn’t even respond, he just started crying. Overwhelmed by his instant and profound love of his daughter, and overjoyed that both she and her mother were safe.
