The Pond: An Outdoor Maternity Session

They say there is a first for everything. Your first kiss, your first love, your first car, your first baby. Deanne and Sean contacted me to photograph some photos of their first pregnancy in an outdoor setting that had a very special meaning to them. They wanted photos taken in the spot where Sean had asked Deanne to marry him. I happily agreed to meet them in their chosen location, camera in hand.

What I didn’t anticipate (or maybe I totally should have) was that it would be pouring rain that evening in late July, and we had no backup location. This was to be a first for ME as I had never shot an outdoor session in the pouring rain. Thankfully, we had beautiful coverage in the forest beside the pond, and short periods where the clouds cleared for a few minutes that allowed for some beautiful moments to be captured between these two lovebirds.

Their love, affection, and admiration for one another were evident throughout the shoot. My goal was to capture the essence of the love which is going to bring new life into the world. This is what the lovely couple had to say about their session:

“We just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful photography session! We really enjoyed it. We are so happy with the photos. You know, you should do engagement and wedding photos as well! You are amazing!”

Gorgeous images, and I’m a true believer rain just makes everything a little more special … had a rainy wedding day, and wouldn’t trade it for the world!

Wonderful! As they say, "the show must go on!" I’m glad you were able to capture these beautiful moments, I bet they will forever be a fun memory for this couple.

Beautiful photos, and lovely couple! I LOVE that dress. You did a great job capturing their love, even with the weather (which I never would have guessed anyway)
